Google Analytics Percentage of New Sessions
The Google Analytics Percentage of New Sessions report is a great way to see how well your messaging is doing for new potential customers. The higher the percentage is a good thing. This means you are reaching out to brand new potential customers.
Let’s say 100 people came to your website for the very first time in the last 30 days then you would have a 100% rate of new sessions. Now let’s say that 30 of those users came back again within that 30 day window. They would be considered repeat users so your new sessions would now be 70%.
These numbers are relative. If you are trying to grow the new users to your website a low number is bad. But if you have a membership site where the same people come back day after day then the percentage will be a lot lower. Likewise if everyone in the office are on the website throughout the day then that can skew the numbers lower.
For many Sarasota businesses they have a higher percentage rate because of the type of business they are. Service related companies like plumbers, flooring, AC repair, etc. don’t have a lot of repeat traffic because once their issues are solved they don’t need their services. So a higher number is great.
As for the spammers and scammers these don’t effect the numbers too much but it is still good to see the true numbers!
